Naegleria fowleri has very high fatality, especially if not caught early on. Symptoms sound similar to meningitis, plus possible changes in smell and taste. It seems that most people get infected with it by swimming, but recently a few people have contracted it by using tap water in Neti Pots: "The organism doesn't pose a threat when ingested, but if it becomes lodged in a person's nose it can end up in the brain and cause an infection."
